Relevant Experience
Editor-in-chief, reporter, Cooper Point Journal, Olympia Wa 2007-2009
- Developed an online and document library of databases, tutorials, and documents that student journalists of cooperpointjournal.com could use to produce news content
- Helped launch the first incarnation of cooperpointjournal.com
- Appointed and led groups of 8-20 students in creating a weekly print publication and a daily news website for students of the Evergreen State College
- Oversaw a print newsroom that was transitioning to a web publication
- Worked with other staff members in researching and re-writing policies for a student newspaper that was establishing a multimedia web presence
- Instructed reporters about information gathering and their rights as journalists
- Decided and planned what content would be in each edition of a weekly print and daily web publication.
- Wrote, researched, and produced news stories on a variety of subjects including: student governance, campus crime, college finances and budgets, public records, and school events
